Canyon State CU Inks Partnership With Grand Canyon University

PHOENIX – Canyon State Credit Union on Monday said it now has an official partnership with Grand Canyon University.

The $164 million CU said it will be the sponsor of Grand Canyon University arena, which plays host to the university's athletics teams, along with community events and national concert tours. The credit union will serve GCU's faculty, staff, students and alumni.

Jane Dobbs, CEO of Canyon State CU, told Credit Union Journal the partnership is the result of numerous discussions over the last 12 months.

"It is a brand new relationship. We have been working hard on this for about a year now, and we are super excited about it," she said. "The CEO of the university is such a visionary. The school has really improved the whole area about it, so our vision lines up really well with the university's vision. They are wonderful people to work with."

Dobbs said her CU already supports its local area through service, sponsorships and financial education. "We are committed to helping the communities we serve be a better place to live, work and play while still delivering exceptional quality driven products and services."

Brian Mueller, Grand Canyon University's president and CEO, said in a statement, "We are delighted to welcome Canyon State Credit Union to the GCU campus. This partnership will combine the energy and passion shared by both parties to enhance the overall experience for our campus and the community."

Grand Canyon University was founded in 1949 and is Arizona's largest private Christian university. GCU is regionally accredited and emphasizes individual attention for both traditional undergraduate students and the working professional. GCU offers traditional programs on its growing campus, as well as online bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs.

Canyon State CU also is headquartered in Phoenix and is the 18th-largest credit union in the state of Arizona.
