SAGINAW, Mich. – Catholic FCU is serving up free scoops of Haagen-Dazs’ new Honey Bee flavor today to celebrate the ice cream maker’s campaign to Save the Honey Bee.
Credit union employees will promote the Save the Honey Bee campaign from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the credit union’s main offices. Participants will learn about the national Haagen-Dazs Loves Honey Bee effort, sample the new Vanilla Honey Bee ice cream and receive a flower seed packet from Edy's Ice Cream of Plymouth.
The credit union also will introduce its Bee Savings Club for children up to age 12 to learn about money management.
A local beekeeper will offer free honey sticks and recipes, along with information on how to help sustain the bee population in mid-Michigan.
The ice cream company recently announced a national Haagen-Dazs Loves Honey Bees promotion and pledged to $250,000 to Pennsylvania State University and the University of California-Davis to fund sustainable pollination and Colony Collapse Disorder research.
