Center For Community Self-Help Names President

The Center for Community Self-Help, the $2-billion parent of Self-Help CU, announced last week that Michael Calhoun has been promoted from general counsel to president of its wholly owned Center for Responsible Lending, its Washington-based anti-predatory lending lobby.

Calhoun, who also served as the parent organization's chief lobbyist, was a lead author of the 1999 anti-predatory mortgage lending law in North Carolina. Self-Help said that Calhoun's promotion to the head of CRL indicates an ever greater emphasis on lobbying for the group.

The Center for Community Self-Help is also the parent of Self-Help Ventures Fund, as well as the $220-million community development CU.
