BARCELONA, Spain — Dave Chatfield, the well-known former president of the California/Nevada league and a former NCUA board member, was honored by the World Council with its highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award. Also recognized with the same awared was Wayne Nygren, who retired in 2006 as CEO of Credit Union Central of British Columbia.
"I am humbled and deeply honored to receive this award," said Chatfield. "I am reminded of a quote from Edward A. Filene: 'Our enemy is the cry, wherever it comes from, to let well enough alone.' World Council has never let well enough alone."
Both Chatfield and Nygren had served on the WOCCU board When Chatfield retired, WOCCU's Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions established the David L. Chatfield International Training Fund to support international credit union development.
