SACRAMENTO, Calif. - (08/15/03) The California legislature now has oneweek to pass SB1 if it wants to had off a much more restrictiveprivacy initiative that has already qualified for the March 2004ballot. Backers of that ballot initiative have said they willwithdraw the measure if the legislature passes SB 1 by August 20."Passage of SB 1 is going to require expeditious work by theLegislature, and the California Credit Union League will be askingour members to contact their legislators when they return fromtheir recess on Monday, and urge them to support this bill," saidthe California leagues Bob Arnould.
