CO-OP Unveils Check-Imaging at the ATM

ONTARIO, Calif. – CO-OP Financial Services rolled out full check imaging at the ATM yesterday. The system will allow credit union members to make no-envelope deposits using cash or a check at the ATM. Members will receive an image of the check and a receipt. The system has been beta tested California Center CU for the past few months. The credit union said it has increased deposits at its ATMs by six-fold since introducing the system and members like it because it gives them a complete receipt. The credit union-owned network notified its 2,000 credit union members yesterday of the system’s general availability. The CO-OP will provide driving and other electronic services for credit unions while Diebold, NCR and Wincor Nixdorf will provide the necessary hardware for the machines, according to Jim Hanisch, vice president for CO-OP. As many as 15 credit unions are ready to go live with the system at about 45 ATMs, he told The Credit Union Journal.
