NEFCU Walks For Charity Event

VALLEY STREAM, N.Y.-Nassau Educators Federal Credit Union participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer five-mile pledge walk and raised more than $20,000 for the American Cancer Society.

New Credit Union Branches Open

The following CUs opened new branches:

* Navy FCU, Vienna, Va., opened a new branch in Meridian, Miss. aboard the Naval Air Station.

* NAFT FCU, Pharr, Texas, opened a new office inside PSJA High School.

* Northwest FCU, Herndon, Va., hosted a building dedication to commemorate completion of its new headquarters complex and its newly renovated branch.

* Mountain America Credit Union, Salt Lake City, Utah, held a grand opening celebration at its new Centerville branch. The event included prize giveaways, a shopping spree and free money.

JSCU Hosts Workshop For Teachers

LAKEWOOD, Colo.-Jeffco Schools Credit Union hosted a workshop in partnership with NEFE to promote financial education among teachers.

RFCU Holds Rediscovery Day

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.-Redstone Federal Credit Union held a rediscovery day for employees to learn more about the credit union and to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

In additional news, Redstone FCU partnered with Family Services Center to offer small loans at a reasonable rate to low-income families.

GHA FCU Plants A Garden

BINGHAMPTON, N.Y.-GHS Credit Union planted a garden to grow vegetables for CHOW, a hunger relief and advocacy program. The fruits and vegetables of their labor will help supply local soup kitchens.

NY League Awards Scholarships

LATHAM, N.Y.-The New York State Credit Union League's 2002 Scholarship Program is accepting applicants from members who are college-bound, high school seniors. Entries are judged on a statewide basis and winners are announced in the Spring.

RCU Holds Holiday Food Drive

EAU CLAIRE, Wis.-Royal CU sponsored a Holiday Food and Bear Drive. The food was delivered to community food pantries, and the bears were distributed to needy children.

FAFCU Announces Contest Winner

CUFK Raises $106,000 for Children

SAN DIEGO, Calif.-Credit Unions for Kids raised $106,000 for Children's Hospital and Health Center during the past year. CUFK has 20 participating credit unions.

SELCO Donates $26,000 To Youth

EUGENE, Ore.-SELCO Credit Union's Mini-Grants program raised $26,745 to help fund school projects, including a physical education class, a noise pollution awareness project for children with disabilities, and violence prevention workbooks for an elementary school.

CFCU Volunteers Make A Difference

PLYMOUTH, Mich.-Staff for Community Federal Credit Union participated in Make a Difference Day, a nationwide day of volunteering. Their efforts were part of more than 362 projects organized throughout Michigan.

BWCU Member Donates Flag

WICHITA, Kan.-Boeing Wichita CU member Randy Davis donated his stepfather's burial flag, in honor of U.S. military service personnel, for use at the CU's Northwest branch.

Christmas Club Deposits Paid Out

DUBUQUE, Iowa-Dupaco Community Credit Union paid out $3 million in Christmas Club deposits to more than 3,400 Dupaco Christmas Club members.
