DCCU Sponsors Poster Contest

DUBUQUE, Iowa-In conjunction with Earth Day, April 22, Dupaco Community Credit Union has teamed with Mediacom to sponsor the 14th Annual Earth Day Poster Contest, which is open to tri-state-area students in grades 3-7. All entries will be displayed at the Kennedy Mall Community Booth. Prizes include a mountain bicycle, Earth Day T-shirts, school bags, a wrist watch, a stereo cassette recorder, and a Walkman. All winners will be featured on Mediacom cable television.

CCU Contest Winners Announced

SAN DIEGO-Cabrillo Credit Union member Yolanda France won $100 in gold dollar coins in Cabrillo's Great Gold Giveaway Contest. This contest was promoted in the credit union's first quarter newsletter and included an entry form, which the member had to complete and send to the credit union. Ms. France's name was randomly selected from more 350 entries.

OMFCU Raises $12,500 For Charity

EUGENE, Ore.-Members of Oregon Metro FCU raised $12,500 during 2001 for the Credit Unions for Kids campaign benefiting Doernbecher and the pediatric units of Sacred Heart Hospital and Rogue Valley Medical Center. It donated an additional $2,300 to other organizations, including Find the Children, Lane Shelter Care, Uhlhorn Program, MDA, Pediatric Ward Sacred Heart Hospital, Oregon Paralyzed Veterans of America, St. Vincent de Paul, Food for Lane County, Oakridge Lions Club and more.

LCU Raises $11,939 For CMN

WAUKESHA, Wis.-Landmark Credit Union raised $11,939 for the Credit Unions for Kids campaign of the Children's Miracle Network. The funds were raised over two weeks during which members purchased pink links for $1 and hearts for $5.

Separately, the credit union has also opened its first in-school branch inside Waukesha North High School. A student advisory board assisted in planning the facility, operations, marketing and other policies. Students must complete certain educational classes to open some products.

TFCU Supports Junior Achievement

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-Truliant Federal Credit Union offered students from West Forsyth High School a glimpse of the inner workings of a credit union during Junior Achievement Job Shadow Day. Students visited various departments including, accounting, auditing, and marketing.

MCU Offers 4 $1,500 Scholarships

MIDDLETOWN, Conn.-Middlesex Credit Union is offering four $1,500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors, who are continuing their education.

MCUL Has Congressional Breakfast

WASHINGTON, D.C.-At the Governmental Affairs Conference, The Maine Credit Union League hosted its annual Congressional Breakfast with Reps. Susan Collins and Tom Allen attending. Rep. Olympia Snowe hosted the MCUL representatives at her Senate office.

CBCFCU School Branch Helps Kids

ALVIN, Texas-Chocolate Bayou Community FCU high school branch is teaching students with disabilities, from Alvin High School's Vocational Adjustment Class about saving money. The credit union is also supplying the class with items such as practice checks, check registers, and deposit slips.

OMFCU Branch Celebrates 7 Years

EUGENE, Ore.-The Warrior branch of Oregon Metro Federal Credit Union celebrated its 7th anniversary at Oakridge High School, with an open house.

AEAFCU Voted "Yuma's Best 2001"

YUMA, Ariz.-Yuma residents voted AEA Federal Credit Union "Yuma's Best 2001' in the financial institution/bank category. The competition was sponsored by the Yuma Daily Sun newspaper.

The credit union is also celebrating its 60th anniversary.

RFCU Participates In Bowl-A-Thon

WARNER ROBINS, Ga.-Robins Federal Credit Union participated in a bowl-a-thon to benefit the Children's Miracle Network. A total of $7,311.76 was raised for the charity.

APFCU Supports Financial Literacy

ST. PAUL, Minn.-The Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union Foundation supports financial literacy through its annual scholarship program. The credit union awarded $5,000 scholarships to Mariel John, Rebecca Withee, Sara jean Homdahl, and Stephanie Shoemaker.

BUFFALO, N.Y.-The Buffalo District of The Western Division Credit Unions held its annual Boot Camp for College. The program offers information to high school juniors and seniors, who are planning to attend college, about personal finance, checking accounts, student loans, and credit cards.
