Community Trust CU Gets $150,000 Grant For Latino Financial Programs

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Community Trust CU has received a $150,000 award from the Silicon Valley Community Foundation to provide a counseling and financial education program for the region’s Latino population.

Up to 20,000 Latino residents living near the branch have little or no relationship with a bank and thus turn to the credit union for not only financial services but social services such as contacting their country's consulate.

The grant will fund a variety of programs including the credit union’s popular “My Piggy Bank,” which creates a savings account for special events.

The credit union award was among $1.2 million in funding granted by the Foundation.
