Employees at Michigan First Credit Union are enjoying the new concierge service so much that in May 2016 alone employees used the service a total of 196 times, which resulted in 247.63 hours of saved personal time and 2,397 miles saved on their cars.

"Surveys show that our team members are 100% satisfied with the program, as it helps reduce stress and allow them to better focus while at work," said Michigan First Credit Union President and CEO Michael Poulos.

The concierge program is a partnership with Best Upon Request and is totally paid for by the credit union. "As part of the service, team members can request to have our concierge go get the oil changed in their car, take or pickup dry cleaning items, or purchase gifts they need – all while they are at work," noted Poulos.

When it comes to onboarding employees, Michigan First takes great measures to ensure new hires are fully prepared. This approach includes conducting an internal survey after employees have matriculated.

"We found that our new hires were feeling 60% to 70% prepared on their first day," said Poulos. "We wanted to increase that percentage to 90%, so we tweaked the program to include more information and training specific to their new role."

In an effort to reward hard work, the credit union also hosts four Team Appreciation events each year. The catered events are open to all employees and feature prize giveaways, raffles and contests.

"We also treat our team members and their guests to a Detroit Pistons game in a 300-person suite each year," said Poulos. "This allows our team to mingle together and enjoy the game, drinks and food."

Founded 1926, the CU currently operates 14 branches and serves more than 123,000 members.
