Constitution Corp. Unveils Item Capture

As other institutions begin to leverage check processing efficiencies of Check-21, the $1.6-billion Constitution Corporate Credit Union said it has become one of the first in the nation to receive images through its Branch Item Capture solution.

Constitution's Branch Item Capture solution development process began in 2004 when it selected VSoft Corp.'s Check 21 product suite for providing members with nationwide check image exchange, clearing and settlement. Through VSoft's interface and the Endpoint Exchange Network, Constitution said it now has the capability to create substitute checks and exchange check images with over 4,000 institutions across the country.

Charter Oak FCU began transmitting images to Constitution from its new Willimantic, Conn. branch last month. Constitution Corporate said the branch is the first of its kind in Connecticut to rely solely on branch item capture for check collection and transmissions to Constitution. The corporate said its success at Charter Oak was demonstrated to members in numerous branch item capture demonstrations where members had the opportunity to see the solution first hand.
