WASHINGTON-Likely voters in competitive congressional districts strongly support the creation of a new consumer protection agency and dervivative trading reform according to a new poll.
The survey, conducted by Lake Research Partners, reported that more than two-thirds of voters in these areas support a CFPA and also favor regulating the market for complex financial products. 41% of voters said a vote against the CFPA would make them less likely to re-elect their representatives while only 14% said it would make them more likely to cast their ballot for re-election.
Respondents were also much more likely to say that there is too little regulation of banks, credit card companies and the stock market than they were to say there is too much regulation.
