Contactless Card Readers In Place At Football Stadiums

The Philadelphia Eagles said they have introduced PayPass contactless credit cards with radio frequency identification, or RFID, technology to help speed concession purchases by season ticket holders at their home stadium, Lincoln Financial Field, this year. The MasterCard-branded wireless technology allows a vendor's terminal to pick up information from the card without swiping, then transmit the details to the MasterCard network for processing.

Several other pro football teams have also signed on to the contactless PayPass cards for this season, including the Seattle Seahawks, Washington Redskins, New York Jets and Giants; while the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team began using the system at the end of the season.
