Court Rules Against HVFCU On Mortgage Tax

ALBANY, N.Y. – The New York State Court of Appeals has ruled against Hudson Valley FCU in its appeal of a decision in its suit challenging the state’s levy of a mortgage recording tax.

The credit union has been arguing that it should not have to collect the tax, as it is a tax-exempt organization. The suit was originally filed in 2009.
