Credit union CEO appointed to Fed advisory council

Bill Schirmer, president and CEO of Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union, has been named to the Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Board of St. Louis.

The council, which meets twice per year in St. Louis, was formed by the St. Louis Fed in 2011 and consists of 12 executives. Schirmer is the second credit union CEO to join the panel. Craig Esrael, president and CEO of First South Financial CU in Bartlett, Tenn., was appointed to the council in 2017. His term will expire later this year.

Schirmer will serve a three-year term while also leading ETFCU. The $1.65 billion-asset institution, based in Evansville, Ind., ETFCU posted net income of about $15.2 million in 2018, a 31.8 percent decline from the prior year.
