BEAVERTON, Ore. – Troy Stang, a one-time candidate for the NCUA Board, who has held leadership positions at the Texas CU League and the Treasury Department Community Development Financial Institutions, was named yesterday as the new president of the CU Association of Oregon.
Stang got his start in credit unions working for the Hmong (Vietnamese) FCU in St. Paul, Minn., before going to work as public relations director for the Texas CU League, when he became a candidate in 2004 for the NCUA Board seat eventually won by Rodney Hood. Since then he has worked as an executive for the CDFI program, and more recently, as head of marketing for Arizona FCU.
Stang will succeed Gene Poitras, who retired last November after 33 years with the Oregon league, the last 15 as president.
The Oregon league represents about 83 credit unions.
