CU Opts To Not Renew Naming Agreement With Skating Complex

For the past 10 years ESL FCU has paid $60,000 annually for naming rights to the ESL Sports Center financially troubled Brighton ice-skating complex that bears its name on the campus of Monroe Community College.

However, recent media reports have uncovered that the nonprofit organization that manages the facility is in financial difficulty and is seeking to restructure more than $10 million in debt.

A spokesperson for the credit union told local media the CU's decision is not related to the financial challenges faced by the facility, and instead is related to a new headquarters it is opening. The sports complex said a new name sponsor has been found to replace ESL.
