CU Student Choice Hits 150 CUs

WASHINGTON – Credit Union Student Choice, a CUSO that provides turnkey, private student lending to CUs, reported it has hit the 150-CU client plateau.

The most recent to sign on to the service are $1.6-billion GTE FCU in Tampa, Fla., $1.5-billion NAFCU in Westbury, N.Y., and $1.2-billion Associated CU in Norcross, Ga.

“While the government will become the sole lender of Federal Student Loans on July 1, the opportunity for credit unions in private student lending remains extremely strong,” said CEO Jon Jeffreys.

The service was launched in May of 2008. To date, credit unions partnered with Student Choice have funded more than $185 million in loans, representing nearly 15,000 students.
