The committee should have little trouble finding applicants for the job, which pays Mica $1.9 million a year, one of the highest pays among Washington-based trade association executives.

The search committee will be chaired by Harriet May, president of GECU, El Paso, Texas, and will include: Patricia Wesenberg, Central City CU, Stevens Point, Wis.; Eugene Foley, Harvard University Employees CU, Cambridge, Mass.; Tom Dorety, Suncoast Schools FCU, Tampa, Fla.; Rudy Hanley, Schools First FCU, Santa Ana, Calif. and Kris Meacham, the current CUNA chairman and president of Deseret First CU, Salt Lake City, as well as Brett Thpmpson, president of the Wisconsin CU League.

Mica, 65, is a four-term U.S. Congressman who has headed CUNA since 1996 and has set his retirement in 15 months. Mica set his departure as CUNA was reporting its second straight year of losses, $8 million for 2008, after losses of $5.7 million for 2007.
