WASHINGTON – The National Federation of CDCUs, BECU and the credit union-sponsored Center for Responsible Lending joined the Ford Foundation yesterday to launch a nationwide effort to promote fair and safe mortgage lending practices, including a certification program.
The Fair Mortgage Collaborative will identify and certify for-profit and non-profit lending organizations that adhere to fair and safe lending standards and allow certified lending organizations to use its trademarked Fair and Safe certification logo to market themselves.
BECU will be participating through its mortgage lending CUSO, PrimeAlliance. Center for Responsible Lending is an affiliate of Self-Help CU.
Other participants include the non-profit Consumer Federation of America, Credit Foundation of America, the Calvert Foundation and ACORN Housing.
