Cyprus CU’s Dale Catten to Retire in January

WEST JORDAN, Utah – Cyprus Credit Union yesterday said its president and CEO, Dale Catten, will retire Jan. 9, 2009, after 31 years of service.

S. Todd Adamson, Cyprus CU’s executive vice president, will succeed Catten as CEO.

“The Credit Union owes Mr. Catten its deepest appreciation for his dedication and commitment to Cyprus, its members, and the community over the past 31 years,” said Adamson. Catten has served as CEO of Cyprus Credit Union since1995, having worked in many positions within the organization since 1978, including 14 years as executive vice president.

The credit union said Catten has been the driving force for Cyprus through significant technological advancements and financial growth. He helped the credit union increase its assets to over $550 million today from $23 million in 1978, and has been instrumental in expanding the branch network from a single location in Magna to 15 branches along the Wasatch Front. Membership has grown to more than 72,000.

Catten began his credit union career in 1974 with the Utah League of Credit Unions, working in the Auxiliary League Service Corporation. He has held director positions on the SunCorp Corporate and Rocky Mountain Corporate Credit Union boards. He also served on the Oquirrh Chapter board of directors and on the Credit Union Service Centers of Utah board of directors.
