WASHINGTON - (06/16/05) -- NCUA said low-income credit unionsare eligible for economic empowerment grants of up to $1 millionprovided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Thegrants, under the Department's Assets for Independence Program, canhelp encourage savings for low-income members and their families,as in Individual Development Accounts. Credit unions can learn moreabout the program during two conference calls provided by theOffice of Community Services in HHS on June 20 and June 21.
