Director Ends 56-Years On Board

WATERFORD, Mich.-Oakland County CU said John Jones, a director and charter member of the now-$155 million credit union since 1953, has decided to step aside. Jones, 91, will continue to serve as non-voting director emeritus, a position created last year. Jones was the first person to join the CU 1953.

BENTONVILLE, Ark.-Wal-Mart said it is continuing to expand its financial services and will now offering electronic bill payment at its 3,755 U.S. stores through Fiserv's CheckFreePay.

Wal-Mart, which is expanding its ATM and check cashing services, will allow customers to pay household bills, such as their utility, mobile phone, auto loan, insurance and credit card bills.

Payments can be made at the Wal-Mart MoneyCenter or customer service desk using cash or a pin-based debit card. Standard payments are delivered to the biller within three business days, and NextDay payments are delivered to the biller on the next business day. A receipt is provided as assurance of payment.

CUs have kept a close eye on the retail giant's foray into financial services.
