DENVER – The thousands of visitors, delegates, politicians and press in town this week for the Democratic National Convention are being greeted by a banner hanging from the Credit Union Associations of Colorado and Wyoming’s new building welcoming them to town.
The CUACW has moved into the Capitol Hill neighborhood in downtown Denver. The 23,000-square-foot headquarters includes a 3,500-square-foot education and training center named The Sterner Center, after William Charles “Bill” Sterner, former chairman of the board of CUAC who passed away earlier in the year.
CUACW’s new headquarters is located inside the “Casa Grande” building, a 1929, four-story structure designed by legendary Denver architect and master builder Walter H. Simon. The facility was Class C office condos before it was purchased by Credit Union Strategic Partners (CUSP), the league service corporation that services both Colorado and Wyoming.
CUNA also has been active in raising credit unions’ profile in Denver this week, including sponsoring the National Journal's Convention Daily Briefings.
