Dover FCU Honors Veterans With Designated Parking Spots

Dover Federal Credit Union, Dover, Del., is joining a growing number of companies across the Blue Hen State to designate special parking spots for veterans of the U.S. military.

Deb Jewell, Dover FCU's director of marketing, said, "Our support of the military reflects our commitment to Dover Federal's heritage as well as our appreciation for being provided the opportunity to serve the military and their families."

Dover FCU recently recognized Army Veteran Phyllis D. Moore as being the first veteran to park in one of the credit union's dedicated Veteran Parking Only spaces. Management said when community partners work together for the benefit of veterans, "positive results happen."

The drive to designate parking spots for veterans at local businesses throughout Delaware is an initiative from Elaine Pinkowski, professional and community liaison for Compassionate Care Hospice. The group helped design "Veteran Parking Only" signs, which Pinkowski said were created to provide a positive impact on the well-being of veterans by providing recognition to those who have protected America.

"It is more than just a sign, it is a reflection of honor and support for all our military personnel have done to support our freedom," said Pinkowski.

Dover FCU is the largest credit union in the state, with more than 45,000 members. Dover Federal has $455 million in assets, and operates offices in Smyrna, New Castle, Milford and Dover, including one at Dover Air Force Base.
