Dow Chemical Employees’ CU Distributes 30 Bikes To Needy Kids

MIDLAND, Mich. – Workers at Dow Chemical Employees’ CU built 30 bicycles from kits Monday and the bikes were given to underprivileged kids at the end of the day.

Part of the goal of the exercise was to promote interaction, communication, leadership and teamwork among employees, and it also was a way to give back to the community.

Since the credit union was closed for the holiday, employees could use three floors of the building, which normally would be filled with members.

The credit union partnered with The Salvation Army to find 30 children ages 7 to 11 from 21 families in Midland County to receive the bicycles.

Hanging from the handlebar of each bike was a card with the child’s name on it and the signatures of the four or five workers who built the bike.
