Earnings Jump At NCR

DULUTH, Ga. – NCR, the leading manufacturer of ATMs and self-service financial kiosks, announced yesterday that third quarter earnings soared more than fivefold in the third quarter amid growth in orders and revenue.

The company said net income rose to $83 million, which included $39 million of income-tax benefit related to the company's Japanese subsidiary, from $15 million of net income for the third quarter last year.

Third-quarter revenue rose 6% to $1.21 billion.

For the first three quarters of the year NCR had a 4.5% rise in revenues, to $3.4 billion, and a tripling of net income to $99 million.
