GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio Emerald Group CU said John Martin, its CEO of 41 years, is retiring June 30 from the $50-million credit union.
Wendy Driver, currently the credit union’s operations manager, will succeed Martin when he retires to his new role as part-time vice president of business development. Driver has been with Emerald Group since December 2011.
Martin joined the credit union in 1972 as its part-time treasurer/manager when it had just two employees, 280 members and $250,000 in assets. Today, it has 22 employees, 8,500 members and $50 million in assets.
Martin, 66, also was teaching at Garfield schools when he started working for Emerald Group. He did not work full time for the credit union until he retired from teaching in 1999.
