It's fitting that employees helped to pen an organization's culture statement at One Nevada Credit Union. The missive reads, in part:

"We are a loyal and trusted team of diverse, caring and dedicated professionals, working and having fun together as a family. We promote a safe, stable, relaxed and upbeat environment, where we are valued and respected. We embrace opportunities to learn and grow."

Senior Vice President of Human Resources Michael Traficanti explained that One Nevada promotes growth and supports employees in a variety of ways, including offering tuition reimbursement to qualified candidates for certificate courses, undergraduate/graduate degree programs related to current performance or planned career development.

"We support employees by announcing career opportunities three days before we open the position externally," he said. "This provides our current employees with the opportunity to apply first for the position."

For select positions, Assistant Vice President of Human Resources Beth Galofaro said "promotional criteria" is offered, which is a formalized outline of what an employee must accomplish to be eligible for a promotion. Training assignments are also offered for staff to train on the job and work toward meeting the minimum qualifications of the position.

"We support employees continuously by having recognition programs such as our 'Employee of the Quarter' and 'Leader of the Quarter,' where employees are awarded with monetary incentives, time off, lunch with the president and more," said Galofaro.

Founded in 1950, the CU currently operates 15 branches serving more than 78, 000 members.
