Holbrook spent 40 total years with California and Colorado-based ECCU, ascending to its chief executive position after only four years. He will retire at the end of May in this ECCU's 50th year of operations. The $1 billion credit union primarily functions online with two physical locations in Orange County, California and Colorado Springs, Colorado.

"It is an immeasurable privilege to have served ECCU these past 40 years," Holbrook said in a release. "I will miss ECCU greatly, and will be eager to see how the Lord leads and uses the credit union in days and years to come."

According to the credit union, Holbrook has prepared ECCU for his retirement for several years, developing an executive team for the transition. Executive recruitment firm D. Hilton and Associates will conduct a nationwide search for a new CEO while Holbrook's executive team will guide the credit union in the interim period between his departure and the new CEO hiring.
