PEORIA, Ill. – An ex-convict on parole from prison on Monday was charged with two armed robberies last month at the same branch of Redbrand CU.
David Morris, 48, has served federal prison terms for armed robbery twice and was last sent to prison for theft in early 2010 for a 30-month stint, according to authorities. He was on parole during the time of the two credit unions heists.
The branch was robbed Aug. 17 and again Aug. 29. Each time, a man walked into the E. Lake Ave. branch and implied he had a weapon. Video surveillance at the branch led to the identification of Morris.
Authorities were able to figure out Morris’ cell phone number, and the phone company traced the phone’s location.
