About 200 texters are expected to compete in preliminary rounds to be held at the credit union Aug. 29, which will determine who advances to the finals. The finals will be held Sept. 12 at Kahala Mall with the winner receiving $1,000. The contest is part of a campaign to promote the $130 million credit union's new brand and tagline, "Connect. Inform. Belong."

"Connect" is how it links business partners and other businesses or individual members looking for services or assistance.

"Inform" refers to a series of forthcoming seminars that will be presented by local community experts as well as management staff and are centered on timely topics as Building Credit, ID Theft, Basic Budgeting and Financial Literacy.

And "Belong" points to the array of benefits its members enjoy when they belong to Hawaii Central CU.
