BALTIMORE—Five men, including the 48-year-old planner and his 20-year-old son who drove the getaway car, pleaded guilty to a June 2012 hold-up of an armored truck at Navy FCU when $220,000 was stolen in metro Washington, D.C.
The five held up the armored truck while the guards were unloading cash from the rear then fled in two cars, meeting later to split up the money.
John Williams, the alleged ringleader, was sentenced last week to nine years in prison. Four others, including Williams’ 20-year-old son Deangelo Williams, pled guilty to the robbery outside the Navy FCU Branch in suburban Rockville, Md.
Prosecutors said John Williams had arranged for two of the men to rob the truck driver at gunpoint and had the two others—including his son--waiting in one of the get-away cars.
Deangelo Williams was sentenced to three years in prison and the three others are awaiting sentencing.
