MADISON, Wis. – Madison News CU, an $8 million credit union serving employees of The Capital Times, Wisconsin State Journal and Capital Newspapers, is the latest newspaper credit union facing its final deadline as it plans to merge into Dane County CU.
Plans call for the single office of the 79-year-old Madison News CU to become a branch of Dane County CU, a $105 million credit union also based in Madison.
The proposed merger comes as Fort Worth Telegram Employees FCU is combining into EECU; First Edition Community CU, serving employees of the Arizona Republic, is merging into Vantage West CU; and comes on the heels of mergers of Boston Globe Employees CU and (New Orleans) Times Picayune Employees CU into larger credit unions.
