FAIRHAVEN, Mass. – Soldiers are being offered a variety of rate discounts and other benefits this Veterans Day under a new ‘Hero Account’ unveiled by First Citizens FCU.
The Hero Account will provide anyone who has ever served in the military with special checking and savings rates, discounted loans rates, reduced closing fees on mortgages and a variety of other financial services. For every Hero Account opened, the $400 million credit union will donate $50 to a veteran’s organization of the member’s choice.
"We strongly believe that the sacrifices being made by the men and women of this country through their military service deserve more than just vocal recognition, so we have created a tangible package of banking services as our way of saying 'thank you'," said Charles Simpson, Jr., president and CEO of the credit union.
Hero checking accounts include a number of features, including no minimum balance requirement, free ATM transactions worldwide, free check re-orders, monthly and bonus dividend eligibility, free VISA check cards, premium certificate rates, and other free services. First Citizens' also has developed an incentive savings program that rewards members with tiered interest rates.
