LOS ANGELES – First City CU said a special checking account it has established has attracted more than 1,000 accounts and also raised more than $26,000 for three local charities.

Through its Reality Check program, First City is paying $25 to each new member who opens a new checking account and another $25 to the member's choice of three charities.
The money raised will be donated to 999 for Kids, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department program for disabled children; the Sheriff's Relief Association Survivors and Dependents Fund; and Valley Oasis, which provides shelter and assistance to children and adults who are victims of domestic violence.
