MIRAMAR, Fla. - (03/01/05) -- Eastern Financial Florida CU saidits members can now access their safety deposit boxes at threebranches using biometric handprint technology without an attendant.The handprint units, known as Handkey, were developed byRecognition Systems, a subsidiary of Ingersoll-Rand's Security& Safety Electronic Control Systems. The Handkeys at EasternFinancial Florida CU take a three-dimensional reading of the sizeand shape of a hand and verify the customer's identity in less thana second. Handkeys are currently placed in front of the door to thesafety deposit vaults to the credit union's branches in Boca Raton,Countryside and Pembroke Pines and only one customer at a time isallowed into the area.
