SAN FRANCISCO - Two robbers thwarted by a bandit barrier at Postal CU returned two days later and made off with more than $76,000, but were caught shortly afterward.
The case began Aug. 4 shortly after opening when two masked men entered the credit union and ordered members and employees to the ground, police said. The robbery was foiled, however, when alert tellers locked the bullet-proof "bandit barrier" and refused to open it, even as the armed men threatened to "start shooting if the tellers did not open the doors. The two left, but not before taking two members' purses.
Two days later, two armed men, believed to be the same assailants, accosted two tellers as they arrived to work and forced their way into the credit union. The two men fled with $76,300.
