JACKSON, Miss. – A former burglary detective, out on bail for an alleged robbery at Mississippi Employees FCU, was charged yesterday in five business robberies that happened in 24 hours.

Lawrence Epps, charged with the April 25 robbery of $8,000 from the credit union, was arrested yesterday at his home and charged with robbery of five local businesses.
After reviewing witness statements, police were able to identify the 46-year-old Epps as a suspect, according to police.
He was indicted twice this year in connection with holdups, including the credit union heist, and was out of jail on a $50,000 bond.
Epps was fired in 1999 from the Jackson Police Department after testing positive for cocaine use.
