Genisys CU Partners With FamilyMint On Financial Ed

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Genisys CU has joined FamilyMint, a local company that focuses on financial education for kids, to provide programs “helping kids appreciate money.”

FamilyMint said it helps young savers make goals and track their funds online, just as an adult credit union member would. Children can set up numerous “goal accounts” for different things they want to save toward using the program’s web-based program. Though the program is geared toward younger kids, there is a separate interface for older children.

Accounts can be personalized in a variety of ways. Children can upload user pictures and multiple children’s accounts are accessed through one parent account.

Kids are able to deposit, withdraw and transfer funds, but parents hold the money and have the final say in what happens to the money because they act as the banker.

The FamilyMint website, www.familymint.com, was opened to the public in January and currently has more than 2,000 users.
