Georgia United CU Reaches $1B Assets Milestone

Georgia United Credit Union announced it has reached a key business growth milestone, surpassing the $1-billion mark in total assets.

The Duluth, Ga.-based credit union celebrated the achievement at the annual shareholders meeting May 25.

Georgia United CU started with seven educators who deposited $5 each into accounts in 1958. The credit union has since grown to 19 branches with more than 130,000 members.

Debbie Smith, Georgia United CU president and chief executive, attributes the credit union's growth to offering its members outstanding service.

"We will continue to grow the credit union by focusing on what we do best, delivering great service and providing innovative financial solutions," Smith said in the release.
