RICHLAND, Wash. – Officials of Gesa CU were joined by city and business leaders in breaking ground for its new headquarters, a 76,000-square-foot building located in the commercial hub of the so-called Tri-Cities.

The building will have room to house up to 300 employees in the administrative, accounting and marketing offices, as well as a new branch. The fast-growing $750 million credit union currently has 260 employees.
Completion of the $14 million project is scheduled for late 2009.
The credit union was chartered in 1953 by the General Electric Supervisor's Association. Gesa plans to open new branches in Walla Walla and Pasco next month. It also is expanding its mortgage lending program and hiring new employees.
