Brett Shumway, 43, and his co- defendant, Kristopher Johnson, also known as Aldo Sanchez, 21, were arrested by St. George Police at the Bloomington Interstate 15 exit shortly after a man wearing a hood and wielding a handgun demanded money from the credit union branch on Sept. 22, 2010.

Johnson was sentenced to more than 10 years in prison after his May 2011 trial.

U.S. District Judge Ted Stewart said Shumway’s 20-year criminal history shows the defendant could be a danger to the public and should serve time for the type of crime committed. His criminal history includes previous robberies and drug trafficking.
