HOUSTON – One of two gunmen in last November’s robbery at Investex CU where $202,250 was stolen was sentenced yesterday to 13 years in prison.
Carl Preston and his accomplice Dominque Ervin were recruited by a credit union employee named Dorcell Devon Johnson, who also carried out a $130,000 robbery at the credit union a few months before.
Preston and Ervin told authorities that they worked with Johnson and planned the later heist. The two burst into the credit union wearing masks that day and pointed their shotguns at a security guard. Ervin shot out a surveillance camera.
After getting away, the two men bought cars with their share of the money, a 1989 Cadillac and two Impalas.
Preston pleaded guilty to aggravated bank robbery and brandishing a firearm and was sentenced to 155 months.
Ervin and Johnson are awaiting sentencing.
