HONOLULU – Hawaii Central CU's search for Hawaii's fastest texter ended yesterday at Kahala Mall with some 30 contestants vying for the title and $1,000.

After nearly 40 minutes of competition, 21 year old, Kiana Lacanaria of Honolulu, was declared the winner. The final message that she had to text was: "Hawaii Central Credit Union. Connect. Inform. Belong. Serving Hawaii's Businesses and Employees. Open and account today and enjoy the benefits of membership."

Five semi-final winners each won a $100 Kahala Mall gift certificate.

Today's events were part of $130 million credit union’s rebranding initiative to launch its new tagline; Connect. Inform. Belong.
