BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The Boulder Dam Hotel, built in 1933 during construction of Hoover Dam, was closed last week for lack of financing, leaving Boulder Dam CU hotel part of the tab.
The credit union out up $170,000 in a 2005 rescue of the city’s troubled landmark and currently holds two mortgages worth $940,000 on the property.
Management of the troubled hotel is looking for a cash infusion of as much as $60,000 to see it through the summer, its slowest season. The City Council rejected a request last week for redevelopment funds to rescue the hotel and the Boulder City/Hoover Dam Museum that it house.
The historical association said it needs $250,000 by September 10 to reopen the hotel.
