INDIANAPOLIS – A homeless man was arrested Friday after he forced an employing arriving to work at Centra CU into the vault at gunpoint and was making off with $150,000 in cash.
The suspect accosted a female clerk as she was getting to work just before 8 am and told her the ATM machine kept his card. The clerk told the suspect he would have to come back when the credit union opened. Instead of waiting, the suspect forced his way into the credit union and shoved the employee into the vault. He ordered her to give him all the money.
Police responding to an alarm set off by the clerk met the man inside the credit union with a bag and ordered him to the floor. The man was carrying a .357-caliber Magnum revolver
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old James Cole, is apparently a resident of Georgia who is homeless.
