How Dupaco Keeps Its Employees on Their Toes

DUBUQUE, Iowa-To ensure employees are always up to speed on its own products and services, Dupaco Community Credit Union conducts quarterly online educational programs anchored by a year-end test, from which individual scores affect compensation.

When the credit union began the program three years ago, the average test score was 72%. That rose to 85% last year and 91% in 2009.

"The training has paid big dividends," said Hoefer, who added that the credit union's share of wallet has increased with the rise in test scores. "It's all because our employees are more competent in what they are doing."
