GALVESTON, Texas – The National CU Foundation has raised more than $60,000 in its Disaster Relief Fund 10 days after Hurricane Ike hit the Gulf Coast, as reports of financial need among credit union members and employees continue to grow.

Grants are being handled at the state level by the Texas CU Foundation and the Louisiana CU Foundation. Both are making $500 emergency grants in this initial phase. Both hope to be in a position to make larger grants to meet long-term needs if donations keep coming in.
