Ill. Regulators Approve GCS Expansion into 8 Counties

State regulators approved GCS Credit Union in Granite City, Ill., to expand service into eight additional counties in Illinois.

The $317 million-asset credit union will add Sangamon, Logan, Macon, Marion, Jefferson, Perry, Jackson, and Williamson counties to its field of membership, the CU said.

GCS wanted to expand from 10 to 18 counties primarily in order to serve members who move throughout the state, Keith Burton, president and chief executive of GCS CU, said in the release.

"It is a large area but has many similarities and common ties to the area we already service," Burton said.

GCS currently has branches in the following Illinois counties: Sangamon, Logan, Macon, Marion, Jefferson, Perry, Jackson, Williamson, Jersey, Macoupin, Montgomery, Madison, Bond, Clinton, St. Clair, Monroe, Washington and Randolph.
